A comment to a general point made in several comments here..

Two things can be true, struggle inspired by material condition and personal held belief. It doesn't have to be one or the other, the reductionist orthodoxy at work here is a bit aggrevating.

His post is an "introductory to Islam". Y'all need.to chill. It's good for the left. Hakim isn't saying materialism is bad, Allah is the way of the light.

Also, probably wait until after the genocide of his people before critiquing him too hard.

i think the primary motive for following religion in a genuine way is to seek peace and acceptance within human existence. being alive and conscious is fucking hard and i'm sure we all know that by now. more people need to understand that religion is or at least can be a deeply personal and philosophical journey for a person. if it drives a person to do good and be good, that is objectively good, and we don't really need to criticize how they got there. some, if not many religious texts have aged supremely poorly, but most religious people choose to follow closely the core tenets of their religions and not much else. organized religion is a whole other can of worms but many find hope and strength in religion, and as long as their beliefs manifest in a positive way for them and/or others, there really is no harm in it imo. some of you mfs need to get off r/atheism because at this point this shit is just corny. word

On top of everything that everyone in this thread has already mentioned, this is extremely insulting and reductive even on the basis of religion.

Imagine blatantly ignoring the lives and sufferings of Christian, Jewish, Samaritanist, and Atheist Palestinians who also live and die under the same oppression and terror that their Muslim brothers do. I guess they aren't important enough to include in this analysis? How do they survive? Chalking up the survival of a people entirely to religion, while simultaneously ignoring other faiths is completely absurd.

Also, religious faith is the basis of survival of a subjugated people? Really? Ask the Jews during the Holocaust how that went for them, and why if the faith worked so well for them that millions of the survivors left Judaism in disillusionment and disgust.

I expected better from Hakim.

My conclusion regarding the Deprogram cast is one of three theories:

1. Deprogram/ their channels became to potentially influential and the state apparatus has threatened them into playing along.

2. They've sold out to get that sweet sweet patreon and merch money from liberals and less principled Marxists.

3. They let the "power" get to their head and they know think that they're the second coming of Lenin, Stalin, Marx, and Mao.
