Is it possible to make a normal elastic-waist skirt into a high waisted skirt with a straight band? (lemmy.world)

i have a skirt that has an elastic waist, i don't think it's high waisted and the waistband sticks out a little bit since it's elastic. Would it be possible to alter this skirt to a regular waist band (such as the type that would have a zipper) and make it high waisted?

Unless you have some sewing skills already, it might be difficult to do yourself, but I’m sure a dry cleaner/alterations place could do this. I think it depends how much fabric there is for the waist band, otherwise you might have to buy fabric too.

definitely would not attempt this myself, would find a tailor
