Despite what it does to my mental health, I keep tabs on what conservatives actually think and how they rationalize everything. They are up in arms and some clips of MAGA hats burning are going viral but they are NOT on our side, they are NOT changing their minds because of this, and are NOT changing their behavior.

No doubt some have left the cult and are fighting on our side and I and we all should support them. But, while this recent Epstein scandal is the most vocal MAGA has ever been against their glorious leader, they still support the polices and actions 100%. It is important we don’t forget this and know who we are dealing with. I know most of us know this but I’m seeing an alarming amount of hopium that this is the thing that makes people turn on Trump and MAGA and we need to remember that will never happen.

They don't care about Epstein for the crimes, they care about him because they think they can find dirt on Democrats. They would happily be Epstein if they could.

Remember when conservatives disagreed with a Democratic president but still treated him respectfully?

Neither do I.

TBH, you can use things like this as openings to start talking to people that support Trump, and get them to start asking real questions. (And not the Joe Rogan, "I'm just asking questions!" kind of questions, but sincere ones.)

Thing is, if you treat all MAGAts like they have the plague, and refuse any and all contact with them, you lose the ability to influence them at all. People that risk losing all of their social network when they change their politics--or their religion, ask me how I know--are much less likely to ever change. So cutting them off completely ends up reinforcing their beliefs. 'Course, no one has to put up with their bullshit, but if you don't, who will?

Idk man not that there aren't real dumbasses on Reddit, but a screenshot from the psyop site known to be swarming with bots is maybe not the clearest-cut evidence on the opinions of the right

I dunno, he outlined it in red and everything, looks pretty clear cut to me.

If you find no fault in your own group and no right in your enemy. You are brainwashed.

These people would rather be fooled than hear they've been lied to.

Funny, that can be applied the other way too, when you can't find anything right about MAGAts...

MAGAts are right to be angry at the establishment. They are right the average working person is making less money. Theyre WRONG on who to blame, it's not immigrants... it's billionaires

[–] Semester3383@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Sure, but Dem voters should also be mad at the Democratic establishment. Like Schiff, or Pelosi, or any NY Dem that didn't congratulate and endorse Mamdani. They're also carrying water for the billionaires.

Not gonna disagree with you there. Especially with how hard they attacked bernie sanders

we all should support them

Best I can muster is not further antagonizing them at the moment...

The guy "... support[s] much of what he's doing" AND is a constitutionalist? Now that's funny.
