I grew a mustache recently 'cuz trendy atm, and now apparently I'm passing as under 18 somehow when I'm 35 everywhere I go.

I had literally the opposite happen. Shaved once in my thirties, and got carded for movie tickets.

I got excited to be IDd at 18, facial hair never happened. Got confused for 38 at a pub somewhere.

Shaved, and at 25 got IDd.

Facial hair be doing a lot of work

Ah well, I take it as a compliment.

Where I live if you are under 21 your ID is portrait instead of landscape so you can tell just by the orientation of the picture.

Do you get a new ID when you hit 21? My ID was the same from 17 to 19, and 18 is the drinking/smoking age here.

Well the vast majority of people get a drivers license at 16 here, though you can get an ID at any time if you don’t want to go through the driving test.

The portrait cards have a red box that says “Under 18 until: (date)” and a yellow box that says “Under 21 until: (date)”.

Regardless of which kind you have they expire every four years so because most people got them at 16 most people get a new one at 20. I would say it’s 50/50 after that on people who wait for the portrait card to expire vs people who pay the fee early to have the landscape at 21. I was impatient and had mine renewed early.

Fair enough, my licence was 17 for Ls, 18 for Ps and then just full, I was a year late getting it because cbf.

Do all your licences only last 4 years? I renewed my car licence for 10 years here, but the details aren't going to change in that time because it was a full licence anyway.

It varies by state I think, I’ve only had a license in the state I currently live and it has always expired in 4 years.

Um, toast? Where has the butter gone? The knife was full when I started. What have you done?
