For me, Daniel Radcliffe will always be Harry Potter.

The entire cast of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Danny Devito may have decades of work under his belt, but he'll always be Frank Reynolds to me.

That Blackberry movie that Glenn Howerton was in was decent, but I could not take Bald Dennis seriously.

[–] cabillaud@sh.itjust.works 2 points 11 hours ago

Jamie Hector for me will always be Marlo Stanfield and it scares the hell out of me

[–] ultranaut@lemmy.world 5 points 16 hours ago (1 children)

Kevin Spacey will always be Kevin Spacey. I can't watch him act and see anything else but Kevin Spacey.

[–] Merlu@lemmy.ml 4 points 16 hours ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

Personally, i can't dissociate him from Frank Underwood.

[–] hexthismess@hexbear.net 7 points 18 hours ago

Laurence Fishbourne will always be Morpheous to me

[–] PolandIsAStateOfMind@lemmy.ml 2 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago)

A lot, but ones that stand up mostly (except few Polish ones which i won't mention because you wouldn't recognize them anyway) are Sean Connery as Marko Ramius, Patrick Stewart as Jean-Luc Picard and Tom Cruise as piece of wood.

[–] dessalines@lemmy.ml 6 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

Christian Bale, Patrick Bateman.

[–] BigBananaDealer@lemm.ee 2 points 3 hours ago

after watching american psycho you start expecting christian bale to start saying some weird shit or murdering people horribly in any movie hes in

[–] Merlu@lemmy.ml 4 points 17 hours ago

For me, he'll always be Bruce Wayne.

[–] Carrolade@lemmy.world 30 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Even when I see Elrond in LotR, that's actually just Agent Smith in a funny costume.

[–] hbar@lemmy.ml 7 points 1 day ago

I always call him Agent Elf

[–] Bongles@lemmy.zip 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Adult Danielle Radcliffe I don't really think "that's Harry Potter". Probably because the beard.

Wesley snipes is blade though.

[–] snailboy@lemm.ee 1 points 3 hours ago

β€œThere’s only one Blade. Only ever gonna be one Blade.”

[–] morphballganon@mtgzone.com 13 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Seeing Wayne Knight in Jurassic Park, wondering why Newman is there

[–] lobut@lemmy.ca 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

What about 3rd Rock From The Sun? I think Newman fits in quite well there too.

It was a bit odd seeing him try to defuse a bomb in Die Hard With a Vengeance.

[–] hbar@lemmy.ml 23 points 1 day ago

Vince Vaughn as Vince Vaughn in everything.

[–] thatradomguy@lemmy.world 2 points 20 hours ago

Steve Carell

[–] Vinny_93@lemmy.world 21 points 1 day ago (2 children)

After Miracle Workers, Guns Akimbo and especially Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, Daniel Radcliffe is so much more than Harry Potter to me. He's got this almost Nicolas Cage-y vibe now

[–] JustinTheGM@ttrpg.network 17 points 1 day ago

Don't forget Swiss Army Man!

[–] meyotch@slrpnk.net 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

In all those subsequent roles, I imagine they are all the same universe and Harry’s life just got really random.

[–] Scubus@sh.itjust.works 2 points 17 hours ago

Harry potter and the multiverse of madness

[–] selokichtli@lemmy.ml 11 points 1 day ago

Jason Alexander.

[–] BeatTakeshi@lemmy.world 15 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Frodo, even if I was impressed in the movie Hooligan.

[–] Scubus@sh.itjust.works 3 points 17 hours ago

In the last witch hunter, I predicted his character arc almost on sight. That resulted in me making a bunch of jokes to my girlfriend. "Who could do something like that?" "Elijah would" "i wonder who would have the motive?" "Elijah would"

Fuckin great

[–] ArgumentativeMonotheist@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Didn't even call him by his government name, lol.

[–] BeatTakeshi@lemmy.world 5 points 1 day ago

Elijah Baggins

Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, and Daniel Craig as James Bond.

[–] plyth@feddit.org 1 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago)

That's strange because even in his James Bond movies I think blond, not Bond.

[–] HootinNHollerin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 1 day ago* (last edited 16 hours ago)

He will always be a dude playing another dude, disguised as another dude, to me

[–] pipe01@programming.dev 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Rami Malek will always be a hacker

[–] Brad@beehaw.org 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He was ridiculously amazing as Freddie Mercury.

[–] kurcatovium@piefed.social 3 points 1 day ago

I never knew Freddie was a hacker...

I liked Bradley Cooper but after watching American Sniper I can't see his face anymore without seeing the smug visage of imperialist murder.

[–] Kennystillalive@feddit.org 13 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Niel Patrick Harris will always be Barney Stinson.

No, he is Dr Doogie Howser!

Honorable Mention: Morgan Freeman is God.

[–] Sherad@lemmygrad.ml 7 points 1 day ago (3 children)

Tom Cruise is just Tom Cruise to me, I never feel like he disappears into any kind of role - he's just Tom Cruise pretending to be someone else who happens to look and act similarly to Tom Cruise.

With one exception, that being Les Grossman from Tropic Thunder πŸ˜†

[–] DornerStan@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 17 hours ago)

Magnolia is probably his best performance, but hard to say how much of that is him disappearing into the role versus the role giving us a peek behind the mask lol

Sorry Aubrey Plaza, you will forever be an intern

[–] LaGG_3@hexbear.net 8 points 1 day ago

I like how Robert Pattinson has done quite a few weird roles that Twilight isn't always the first thing I think of with him lol

Ryan Reynolds will always be Ryan Reynolds

[–] scintilla@beehaw.org 6 points 1 day ago

RDJ just is iron man at this point. I saw him in Oppenheimer and was genuinely distracted by it.

[–] paultimate14@lemmy.world 3 points 1 day ago

I can't hear Richard Horvitz without thinking of Invader Zim. He does a ton of random voices in the more recent Ratchet and Clank games and it's very distracting.

[–] Nemo@slrpnk.net 4 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Linda Cardinelli is always Lindsay Weir.
