Is the Master Collection a good way of playing MGS 1, 2, and 3? (feddit.online)

I've played, but not beaten, MGS 1 and 2 on their original consoles. Never played Snake Eater. I remember the Master Collection getting some criticism when it first came out, but it seems like the reviews are positive now. I'm assuming you all are the experts here: is the master collection a good way of playing them? Even if it's not the "definitive" way of playing them?

Played through all three in the master collection and didn’t have any noticeable issues. To me the only downside is they still didn’t include the cut content from the Snake Eater like snake vs monkey or the vampire dream mini game. But the Snake vs monkey mini game is coming back in the remake so that’s not really an issue.

OK, I just bought it -- looking forward to playing these again. Incidentally, they are 50% off ($30) on Steam for the next six hours.
