I never joined.
I even abandoned a creative project when I found out I'd need to market it there.
Still want to finish it and put it out there though, for the people more than for some money. D&D thing.
I do, there are a lot of citizen journalists that post videos of street interviews at protests and whatnot, and I get updates on bleeding edge LLM models and those companies and scientists and engineers. There are also other things available there that aren't on YouTube. I don't even want to use YouTube but that's where I have to go more often than not to get access to the content creators I want unfortunately. But for one example of trying to de-YouTube: Louis Rossmann started posting on Rumble so I go there on occasion too.
EDIT: I'll add that I try to use Mastodon, and I like the UI and whatnot.. but those same engineers and AI companies aren't posting there, they're posting on X. So if I want up to date announcements I have to stick with X. It is what it is.
Honestly when I see someone still active on Xitter it instantly degrades their credibility and my opinion or them.
This is the same with companies and broadcasters that still link to it. Just stop and let it die as it should.
No matter how hard I tried to get content I'd like, most of my feed was a bunch of right-wing "influencers" & crypto scammers. Seriously... spending money on it would be insane.
Not if you're selling penis powder, cyber truck bed liners, fake 14k over pewter Trump bust pins or cage match scalped tickets.
It is a market for what they want to attract. And fuck they have attracted it.
Now....what is penis powder? If you put it in a glass of water, does it grow a penis? Because that might put the dildo industry out of business.
