@Sunshine pretty intresting, but what makes countries like france less democratic than spain, germany, the netherlands, ... ? Other intresting things: the strong dividing line between russia and finland, the light turquoise blob of mogolia in a sea of red, the bright blue uraguay, the strong divide between nicaragua and costa rica. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Economist/_Intelligence/_Unit/_Democracy/_Index/_2024.svg

France uses the flawed second round electoral system compared to the countries you listed that use proportional representation.
