No idea but I'm gonna wait till it is going for cheap and get it in a steam sale
Mass Effect
My name is Commander Shepard and this is my favorite Mass Effect community on the citadel.
Rules & Regs:
- Don't be a dick, unless it's a really spicy renegade interrupt. But even then, seriously, don't be a dick.
- Memes are great - seriously, I need more Mass Effect sh!tposting in my life.
- This is a welcoming community for all stripes, let's just remember there's people on the other side of the screen and act accordingly.
- If you're here, you gotta post. Thems the breaks, kid.
Other stuff:
- I hope to welcome all Rexxitors from r/masseffect, though this is not in any official way associated with them. Still, they're great, and Mass Effect is great, so I hope all Reddit orphans can find a cozy place here to talk about whether or not Leviathan of Dis is going to pull some shady ish.
Is there any word as to the timeline for the release?
At this rate, it'll probably come out as a 20th anniversary hype for Mass Effect's original release.
Honestly I'd prefer a more narrow story rather than a galaxy spanning doomsday threat, just put me in that universe again and let me explore.
That being said I try and avoid speculation and I'm not gonna say it's bad if it doesn't match what I would like.
Hey, thanks for putting this community together. It’s great to be amongst the other ME fans as the RedditExodus begins in earnest.
I haven’t researched much of anything regarding theories for the new game. Someone on the original subreddit had theorized that the use of the suspected Geth telescope at the edge of the Milky Way is involved and that there could be time travel involved.
A personal theory of mine is that anything we see of Shepard will be flashbacks from Liara and that they’re not actually alive. A bit controversial, perhaps, but I think Shep’s story ended with the trilogy. I’m not sure how I’d feel bringing them back from the dead - so to speak - again for this new game.
Thank you for joining! I'm super happy to see that there's a wee bit of traction here.
As far as your theory, I was kinda thinking the same, actually. Maybe the search for Shepard (like we see with Liara picking up the N7 helmet) is tied to the search for figuring out WTF even happened up on the citadel; it's not like Shep got a chance to radio ahead before deciding everyone's fate. People are probably very confused. 😆
Absolutely! I think so long as we have a foothold here on lemmy.world, more of our people, those on the Reddit Exodus and beyond will be able to flock here and grow our new community.
That’s what I’m hoping for and yeah, they’re probably really confused as to what’s going on for sure! I’m betting it’ll be the bridge between the trilogy and Andromeda, so that hopefully we can see a continuation of the series that takes the best aspects from Andromeda and the trilogy.
Do we know if it's supposed to be more open world like Andromeda or back to a linear style?
I wish we knew!! I'm going to guess it's probably somewhere in the middle, though.
Happy you made this.
I think my current working theory for the upcoming game is "Holy fuckbalks why did I not know this was a thing?!?!"
Blasto spinoff.
Well, I try not to overthink/overhype nowadays, I'll just wait patiently ;)
Yeah, I'm much the same way; I didn't know what else to put as a conversation starter!
So I'll give this one: To save on dev resources, the new Mass Effect will operate like a Five Nights at Freddy's game, and our protagonist week be a pizza delivery person.
