Perez ๐Ÿ˜ญ

Congratulations Liam Lawson/Danny Ric on the promotion.

[โ€“] userdata2@lemmy.world 7 points 9 months ago

I won't lie, I'll be slightly upset if DR gets the promotion before Tsunoda

[โ€“] upside431@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago

Will but seems hard to justify his seat in Red Bull.

I desperately want to see Lawson in an RBR car, but does he pass the Marko test? I can't remember the last time I heard him talking about him positively.

While we're at it, wouldn't mind seeing Hadjar in a seat for Danny Ric, see how he gets on.

That team breaks younger drivers and number 2s. I want better for Lawson than driving for 3 races and getting shit canned.

A fair point. I suppose the counter argument would be that they are at least cycling through the #2's in order to give them a pop at top-tier racing (Albon, Gasly, Max, Kvyat etc) while there are second seats at teams which are a literal career death sentence like Ferrari (Barrichello and Irvine to Schumacher, Massa to Alonso, arguably Sainz to Leclerc).

I just don't want Lawson "doing a Sam Bird" and being an incredibly talented driver waiting in the wings for a drive that never comes, that would be such a shame.

Coming from a long time Perez supporter, I'm well past the point of pulling for him and into getting frustrated with his continued poor performance. Given that he's chasing Max I think a couple slip ups or bad results are absolutely fine, but he can't keep binning it into the wall or ending up outside the points.

I want him to do better so badly because he is fully capabale of it. Its rough, both he and us deserve better.

That was a truly ridonkulous lap

Fingers crossed it's enough.

mf really turned a 1+1 contract into a -6 month contract...

Perez chooses death yet again. Jeez.

[โ€“] Sentau@discuss.tchncs.de 6 points 9 months ago

Wow Hamilton scrapping by the skin of his teeth

Unbelievable by perez.

[โ€“] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 4 points 9 months ago

Glad to see Tsunoda's ok. Geez what a crash.

Mercs weakness in session planning exposed. Shit like this is why merc and McLaren haven't overhauled RB yet

Riccy my boy

Yeah tomorrow is going to turn into an extended testing session for the second Red Bull....

[โ€“] wurstgulasch3000@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago

Maybe they can build some data on who is gonna drive it after the summer break

McLaren is on fire today and Sainz is having a pretty good showing, I'm excited about this!

Well, Perez can thank the rain for allowing him to start 15th rather than 20th tomorrow ๐Ÿ™ƒ

Edit: welp, the rain is stopping, so I stand corrected

[โ€“] _ed@sopuli.xyz 3 points 9 months ago

McLaren likely to move second in constructors. A chance for some decent strategy vs the one Red Bull - can they pull it off.

[โ€“] hal_5700X@sh.itjust.works 3 points 9 months ago

Just pull Perez. It's getting sad.

They're going out on slicks, for now - fingers crossed we're in for a spicy session

Q1 should be wild at least, maybe the whole way through.

Looks like Russel had time for another flying lap at the end with everyone else, but just didnโ€™t? Did he try but mess it up?

Edit: Ahh, he didnโ€™t have enough fuel

[โ€“] Sentau@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 9 months ago

Merc didn't fuel him up till the end

[โ€“] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 1 points 9 months ago

I'm not even surprised at this point. Checo in the rain is a match made in hell. Is there a worse wet weather driver on the grid currently?

[โ€“] lazycouchpotato@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago

Alpines didn't go out on track at all after the session resumed?
