Hey, buddy, Merriam-Webster literally labels it as “now offensive”. It’s a slur, and you’re just as much a piece of shit as any other asshole if you go around trying to justify the use of a word you do not need.
Like, it’s pretty big talk to insult someone else’s intelligence when you can’t seem to find a place in your vocabulary for “moron”, “imbecile”, “braindead fuck”, or whatever other term.
Maybe that has more to do with using the r-slur that dehumanizes disabled people when used in that manner and that most of us understood to phase it out two decades ago than anything having to do with a neutral word to describe heavy topics.
