My headphones have a feature where they mute themselves when not on your head; this function has become somewhat broken, is there a way to disable/bypass it entirely? (lemmy.world)

The audio cuts out on one side, and when I lightly touch the headband it comes back again. I think it's the self-muting thing, and whatever triggers it has worn out and become a bit unpredictable.

I've never needed or wanted this function, so even if my issue isn't that, I'd still be curious if there's a way to disable it.

I have no idea personally, because I don't like 'features'. They break and cause more annoyance/costs then they are worth.

Quickly looking it up, there's a switch that triggers it. If you close the switch and force it to stay closed, it shouldn't do this ever.

Someone else on the interwebs states:

You can cut off the plastic piece that presses down on the switch above the left earcup

Do whatever at your own risk obviously. But it stands to reason that the switch just needs to be forced closed to make it always think you're wearing them.
