Dear god post-grunge was awful. I call it Iraq war core. Fun fact: the lead singer of this is Aaron Lewis, a noxious chud who wrote a miserable song called "Am I the Only One" a few years back.

I mean, it's easy to dump on the music of that time. but for all you Monday morning quarterbacks, what mass culture radio-friendly art was even possible for white american suburbia when history ended?

there was no Spotify that would populate an infinite playlist for you just based on your affection for a single you heard in your favorite treat commercial. what we were offered was a buffet of engineered, corporate committee designed and painstakingly crafted Rebellious Cool™.

it wore t-shirts, jeans and had spiky hair with frosted tips. it wore wrap around shades indoors and had "tribal" tattoos. it wore skate shoes and wallet chains.

it was pained and painful.
