A fresh, community-driven space for Europeans (and enthusiasts!) to connect, share, and support our local economies. Whether you're new or migrating from Reddit, here's everything you need to get started.
What is Europe Pub?
Europe Pub is a European social network built on Lemmy, a federated social network platform. Think of it like Reddit, but with a crucial difference: federation means you can interact with communities on other Lemmy networks worldwide without creating new accounts. An instance for all the country-themed communities right next to europe-themed is a nice vision. The former will probably grow slowly, but that's ok and you can make sure that the foundation with multiple admins, backups etc is resilient - like feddit.org after the drama with feddit.de.
Feddit.org only allows German&English language in order to keep it moderateable. If your country communities allow the respective languages (besides English for adressing interested 'outsiders') that's also a great vision, but I think you would better have native (or non-native) speakers as mods first.
Good luck!
[Edit: I meant competent speakers - they don't have to be native]
Thanks! We appreciate all feedback. Given everything happening in the U.S., it's more important than ever to strengthen the fediverse. That's why we started this instance.
We definitely need more admins and moderators, but for now, things are still in the early stages and quite manageable.
Thatβs our long-term vision! But as you mentioned, weβll need native-speaking moderators to make that possible.
