Unpopular opinion: abandoned communities should be closed and redirect to either more active communities on the same topic, or more general communities.
See an abandoned community about a video game? Redirect to !jrpg@lemmy.zip, !tycoon@lemmy.world or !citybuilders@sh.itjust.works depending on the genre.
See an abandoned community about a car brand? Redirect to !cars@lemmy.world
Abandoned community about a city or province? Redirect to the country.

I think someone should maybe also try to make a more generic r/sports -style community, to have a place to try get discussion going about happenings in sports which don't yet have enough people here to create discussion in their own communities?
