Today I decided to go through with acting on a thought that's been sitting on my mind for about a week now:

"What if there was a community centred specifically around Canadian video games and the Canadian video game sphere?"

Give'r Gaming serves just that purpose. This community is one I hope to work on in fostering and bringing light to Canadian talents in the video game sphere. Whether it be a larger game development studio based here in Canada such as Behaviour Interactive or BioWare (unfortunately owned by EA, an American company), or smaller indie operations with cult classics such as Maddy Makes Games and their iconic game Celeste, all are welcomed in this community!

As this community grows, hopefully the list of resources available will do the same. Planned features for this community are perhaps Megathreads on Canadian developers, Canadian gaming news publishers, and perhaps even public game nights once the community grows large enough!

In any case, I hope to see y'all there! Cheers!

Ravenlok is the last of Cococucumber's trilogy of voxel games, but it sure as hell brings an incredible end to it with incredible combat, fun puzzles, and beautiful worlds to explore.

Please give the game a look on Steam! Currently 15% off:

As title. How do we define what a Canadian game is?

My gut says that the physical studio (if there is one) should be located within Canada. But there are a lot of situations where this can get muddied.

Example being: Rimworld.

Founded & owned by Canadian Tynan Sylvester, but according to Ludeon Studios' (Tynan's gamedev studio) website, they're based in New York. According to Tynan's LinkedIn, he works from Ottawa, however.

Does this count as a Canadian game studio, or a Canadian game? Or just a studio that happens to be owned by a Canadian? Or started Canadian, and quickly grew -- but in the US. I don't think a studio being owned by a Canadian inherently makes it Canadian. By that logic, twitter is a Canadian company because Musk hold Canadian citizenship.

I've emailed the Rimworld support address seeking more info, but I think its a worthwhile discussion to have early on in this community so we can come to some kind of consensus on what exactly is a Canadian game.

Ultimate Chicken Horse is an amazing party game to play with friends! Heavily popular with Overwhelmingly Positive reviews on Steam, Ultimate Chicken Horse has been entertaining gamers since it's release in 2016.

The point of the game is simple... or is it? Players need to compete with one another to get from Point A to Point B without dying. However, the path to Point B is created by you, the players! Try and craft a secret path to success for yourself, or cause chaos amongst the group by making things seemingly impossible for everyone? You decide!

The game has been so popular that Clever Endevour is planning to release a new title as a sequel in the near future titled Ultimate Sheep Raccoon slated to come out this year, so keep an eye out!

Invested in boycotting American platforms and don't want to buy the game on Steam? Vote at the link below to bring the game to GOG, a Polish-owned platform that specialises in selling DRM-free games!

Spooky Squid Games is a Canadian indie game developer based out of Toronto! Russian Subway Dogs is a fun 2D game where players play as a selection of dogs and cats scavenging for food from passengers of the Moscow Metro, causing absolute chaos in the process!

The game is loads of fun, has an incredible soundtrack, and has received plenty of good reception. Try picking it up when you can!
