TdF 2025 Bingo

First off, apology for posting this bingo after the Tour has already started. I may or may not have procrastinated, then went on vacation, so other things had priority. For that reason the bingo will include events starting from stage 4 (8th July) onwards - anything bingo-applicable that happened in first 3 stages will not count. (If you set up your bingo card on say, stage 6, all of the things that happened on stage 4 or later count.)

I compiled a list of events with at least a decent likelihood of happening. I also merged some of the less likely options (Rog or Pog winning an uphill sprint is now one event instead of two separate ones, for example). For the sake of easy applicability, I avoided including coverage-specific stuff (like Kelly saying something, or McCrossan, or someone from Danish TV, etc.) or stuff that would feel uncomfortable to cheer for (riders crashing, unless it's Roglič, because that's pretty much a given).

How to play?

I decided to scale down the size of bingo from 5x5 to 3x3 for this year and drop the scoring system I had last year - not that it mattered much, since we're not competing directly, and this is mostly meant to spice up viewing of the race. You basically "win" when you cross out all of your bingos.

The centre tile is a virtual freebie "Fans being idiots": running dangerously, pushing riders, crashing riders, showering riders, being Borats, (almost) blocking the roads, ... you know, all the good stuff.

Here's a quick generator for your bingo cards.Opening this link will already give you a filled out bingo card at the bottom. Feel free to link your cards for proof - this is the card that I got.

List of Bingo events (those that happened will be bolded with a description added if possible):

1 Roglič/Remco crash

2 Remco TT win

3 Pogačar TT win

4 Pogačar wins 3+ stages

5 Pogačar/Roglič wins uphill sprint finish

6 Jonas beats Pogi head-to-head for a stage win

7 WvA finishes 2nd in a stage

8 Ackermann starts sprint too early (~250m+)

9 Healy/Mohorič/Cort/Asgreen breakaway win

10 Soler inexplicable attack

11 Remco lets an attack by Jonas or Pogačar go unaddressed

12 Alaphilippe briefly reminds everyone how good he was years ago, then implodes

13 INEOS (fake) pacing for no good reason

14 Team inexplicably riding against itself

15 Domestique leaves his GC captain behind during a stage

16 GC Leadership role in a team changes

17 GC captain abandons

18 Superdomestique wins a stage

19 Sprinter OTL

20 Yellow card issued

21 G2 doing G2 things

22 Breakaway caught in the final kilometer

23 Breakaway holds off the chasers (riders dropped from break do not count and the bunch has to be making an effort to close)

24 Rather unknown youngster wins a stage

25 Older rider that everyone forgot wins a stage

26 National Champion stage win

27 Race jersey (yellow, green, polka, white) wins stage

28 Invited Pro Team stage win (TotalEnergies, Tudor, Uno-X)

29 Unorthodox stage win celebration (a la Pogi or Del Torro, Mohorič lip-zip, etc.)

30 French win on Bastille day (14th July)

31 Stage paused/delayed due to a protest

32 Extreme weather protocol enacted (heat, thunderstorm, ...)

33 Sticky bidon (3+ seconds)

34 Rider accepting a beer from fans during stage

35 Mechanic repairing a bike while rider is riding it, or rider doing it himself

36 Rider riding an evidently too big/too small bike

37 Motorbike blocking a rider

38 Camera missing important attack while showing something else

39 Live picture displays a nature break (does not have to be explicit)

40 Camera shot of temporary landmarks in the Tour theme (haybale bicycles, groups of people imitating bicycles for aerial shots, etc.) (~45km to go on stage 4)

41 Animal on the road

42 Cows lined up to watch the race

43 Horses running along the race

FREE CENTRE SQUARE: fans being idiots (endangering riders and being tools otherwise - see the "How to play?" section)

I will update this thread with what bingos are done and link it with updates in post-match threads to help people keep track of it. If you play I also suggest that you save this thread.

I wonder if he thought about it this month, or was told not to?

Germany summoned the Chinese ambassador to the foreign ministry on Tuesday after saying China's military had laser targeted a German aircraft taking part in an EU operation in the Red Sea.

[...]

There was no immediate response from China's foreign ministry and the Chinese embassy in Berlin did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment.

[...]

Germany's defence ministry said the aircraft, taking part in the EU's ASPIDES mission which protects international sea routes in the Red Sea, had been contributing a Multi-Sensor Platform, or "flying eye" for reconnaissance of the area since October.

A Chinese warship, which had been encountered several times in the area, had laser targeted the aircraft with no reason or prior communication during a routine mission flight, said a ministry spokesperson. The incident took place at the beginning of July.

"By using the laser, the warship put at risk the safety of personnel and material," said the spokesperson, adding the mission flight was aborted as a precaution and the aircraft landed safely at a base in Djibouti.

[...]

China has previously denied accusations of firing or pointing lasers at U.S. planes.

[...]

In 2020, the U.S. Pacific Fleet said a Chinese warship had fired a laser at a U.S. naval patrol aircraft flying in airspace above international waters west of Guam. China said that did not accord with the facts.
