I have tried multiple different ips and it always returns a valid query. my wireshark shows it sending a dns query to the garbage ip address but I get a response back. anyone can explain this? I am running wireguard app on windows 11.

I was successful in getting cloudflare 1.1.1.1 to work, but mullvad dns servers just time out.

I am trying to make a setup where when connected with my laptop to my LAN I have dns for my local devices, but when not on my LAN I also stil have secure dns through mullvad. I want the mullvad tunnel to work both on my LAN and when remote, but have it running on my laptop and not somewhere else on my LAN. I have found no way of doing this. I have found a few other posts on here where people were trying to do the same and nobody got it working. I believe the issue is that mullvad forces itself to be the primary system dns across all interfaces, even when using split tunnel or custom DNS.

Getting "403 error: the request could not be satisfied" whenever I try to access DeviantArt from any Mullvad server. Can connect just fine with VPN off.

Any advice?

it seems I cannot run vpns with the mullvad app and the wireguard app at the same time. when I run both it breaks and I have to reboot my pc. after disconnecting one of the vpns it will hang and then both vpn apps will not connect/disconnect until a reboot. anyone else notice this? even with split tunnel and excluding local addresses it will not work properly.

I tried updating it and blocked my internet so I decided not to update it cuz I’m worried it happens again, is it really important to update it? Like should I try again or it doesn’t really matter?

As I understand the installation method is different with this update.

I install it, and open it back up and the vpn stills says “Update Available”

I’ve uninstalled the vpn completely, logged out and logged back on and tried installing about 10 times?!

Ok so I searched for things online and most of stuff is probably crap boosted by nordVPN partnerships.

After few more research, I found mullvad that look to be one of the best vpn.

From what I understood : a vpn doesn’t change per se the location of a device but only offers an ip adress (most of the time ip shared) that allows users to do certains things (stream, game…)

So I’d need to change the location of my device on another country to a specific area (for my employer to see). I don’t need anything complicated or overkill - hence why i’m asking you what i need to do to :

• connect to a specific website and hide my current location to display another specific area (my home). Specific area is important - I live close to a big city but I don’t think it will be enough to use this « big-city » server
• it can last 30 minutes, I dont need it to be forever (meaning that i can do the process several times if needed) - my company needs me to login certain stuff (not files) on a specific website only using login/pw (from what I know)
• I’m on my personal Mac, it’s not a company mac. Same for iPhone - personal one. Can be done on iPhone aswell since it’s login/pw
• i don’t mind paying, I already bought some time on mullvad because i think the cause deserves it, if something else is more suited for my concern please let me know

I probably can use mullvad browser + openpvn/wireguard/mullvad vpn (tbh i don’t know the differences nor the settings that would be needed) so here I am

I was running a previous version (not sure which one) and it indicated that it was time to update and it directed me to the mullvad page. I downloaded the installer and tried to run it but it wanted admin user and password. I have admin privileges, but none of the credentials were working. I was stuck in a loop and couldn't even close the installer. I had to kill it in task manager.

From here, the former mullvad client ceased to exist, I had no new client, and my computer's ethernet fully stopped working. It recognized an "unknown public network" from which it couldn't get an IP address. I tried running windows troubleshooting, restarting the ethernet controller, doing a full network reset, rebooting, but nothing. No internet.

I thought maybe there was a registry file somewhere that was preventing connection, so I ran Revo Uninstaller and wiped every trace of Mullvad from the machine, rebooted, still nothing.

My linux dualboot on the same machine still had internet, so I know it had to be an issue somewhere in windows. I finally downloaded the offline installer from another computer and then re-installed mullvad and now I have internet again.

Does anyone know what exactly went wrong, or how to fix it without having to re-install the vpn?

I got mullvad vpn not long ago, with my interest being in regards to privately accessing the internet while avoiding advertising/fingerprinting tactics. I realized though, that using the VPN on a browser with accounts closely linked to my identity probably would negate the purpose of this.

My thought now is to use my default browser for those sites that need a log-in, etc. with split tunnelling, and for all other uses going through the VPN and Mullvad's dedicated browser.

Does anyone have any feedback or advice as far as using these tools for privacy and anonymity? How does my plan sound?

I had the vpn running then had a power cut next day i launched i can no longer access the computer it's saying that my internet connection isn't avaliable but it definitely is working

I cant log into my computer

I've done everything system restore,cmd prompts, bios check,check if the ethernet cable is working

Yesterday I updated my client to the latest version and after that I can't use anymore wireguard. It only works with openvpn. Is anyone facing the same issue?

Updated Mullvad to 2025.6 today and all was well until I had to turn my computer on and off for unrelated reasons. Now Mullvad refuses to even TRY to connect to ANY server. It displays the error message:

Blocking Internet No servers match your settings, try changing server or other settings. The apps excluded with split tunneling might not work properly right now.

I have never gotten this error. The only setting I changed today was turning back on split tunneling and adding an application. It still doesn’t connect with split tunneling off. Why is this happening? Please help.
