Hello there Since few days I've noticed that my torrenting downloadinf was not going over 10 Mbit/s were some times ago it was rather around 60 Mbit/s

For the setup:

My VM is runing a debian 12

I use qbitorrent-npx-static.

I passthru the VM one of my physical NIC.

To be able to access the VM and qbitorrent over the LAN I activate the mullvad lan option.

I was allways using Wireguard servers, but when I really noticed the download speed problem I've try openvpn servers and problem is the same.

However when I use openvpn and do ethtool on the virtual nic that mullvad create the speed showed is 10Mbit/s instead of 1000Mbit/s as it should be.

Does somebody have an idea of how I could fix that?

so me and my friend wants to share the same account while remaining anonymous to each other, would them seeing my wireguard key when logging onto the site put me at risk? and if so what risk, what can they find out?

and are there any settings i should know of, that are more important than others? i just got mullvad today.

I have an ubuntu media server with Plex, Mullvad and qBittorrent installed.

When I start up the machine all three auto start as intended include a full system VPN with Mullvad. However I want to exclude Plex from the VPN using the split tunneling feature of Mullvad. My current conundrum is you have to manually exclude Plex from the VPN using the Mullvad interface each time it restarts. This is unlike windows which has a toggle that stay on or off even after a restart. Does anyone know of a way to automate this process?

I've seen this question asked a few times but no concrete answer could be found (Source 1 / Source 2). For reference I'm fairly inexperienced with Linux and am trying my best to learn.

So I am having this issue where I cannot get internet acces. I have tried multiple servers (Sweden, Germany, Netherlands) but keep getting the same issue. Mullvad will tell me I am 'Connected' but my PC will tell me there is no internet acces. Than when I open my Mullvad, it says 'Internet blocked' than reconnects, tells me 'Connected' etc. What can I try to solve this issue? I am not the most experienced, but did use Nord before which worked fine. First I tought it was my Bitdefender, but uninstalled it, same issue. Also restarted PC, and reinstalled mullvad.

I have been happily using Mullvad for almost more than 2 years and I recently started to see quite a bit of google captcha like almost every 5 minutes which is driving me crazy. I never had such a thing before with Mullvad.

I mostly use Norway because that's the only one which is not blocked by reddit yet. However, I tried many other servers and result is the same.

I try to remove as much as tracking as possible in my browser so that could possibly trigger captcha but that has been the case for a long time anyway so I don't think that's the issue. Also, this captcha issue happens only when I am connected to VPN.

Anyway, I just wanted to ask if anyone else also had a similar observation.

Hello. I have been a member/user of MullVad VPN since today and I'm a bit annoyed about the DL speed.

No matter what I've done or tried - changing servers, changing countries, changing protocols - I've never got a speed of more than 7 MB/s. I get almost 20 MB/s via Steam and co. - I have a 250,000 line. What could be wrong?

I want to use the VPN to bypass Telekom's peering, as some download services are noticeably throttled by the provider and I downloaded from Mullvad because I really like their concept of price and handling of privacy.

Does anyone have any idea what I can do? Or am I simply doing something wrong?

I had already looked in the FAQs to see what the problem might be. I had tried a few things. This on, that off, openvpn, changing the protocol and everything. DAITA was and is off. The settings already show that various settings cost speed.

I'm unable to change the default wallpaper of Mull(Under customize homepage) as it only shows Classic Mull, I've tried reinstalling several times. Therefore, I'd like to install the Tabliss extension in my (rooted) phone, but the option to install it into the browser is grayed out and instead shows the download .xpi option. How do I install the extension into Mull.

I just wanted to express my sincerest gratitute to the Mullvad team for being one of the few, if not the only, vpn providers to cater to us Linux users. I just got a new laptop the other day with new hardware that isn't supported by Ubuntu or Debian yet and had to install Fedora 41. To my surprise, Mullvad supports installation on most Linux distributions.

Fedora isn't my preferred choice, but it will have to suffice until my beloved LMDE catches up to modern times. All in all, thank you for supporting us. It really means a lot!!!

Hallo.

Seit heute Mitglied / Nutzer vom MullVad VPN und "ärgere" mich etwas über den DL-Speed.

Egal was ich gemacht bzw versucht habe - Server wechsel, Land wechsel, Protokoll wechsel - nie kam ich über eine Geschwindigkeit von mehr als 7 MB/s .

Über Steam und co. erreiche ich fast 20 MB/s - Habe eine 250.000er Leitung.

Woran kann es liegen?

Möchte das VPN nutzen um den Peering der Telekom zu umgehen, da einige Download-Dienste seitens des Anbieters merkbar gedrosselt werden und bei Mullvad geladet, da mir ihr Konzept vom Preis und umgang mit der Privatsphäre doch recht zuspricht.

Hat jemand eine Idee was ich tun kann? Oder mache ich schlichtweg etwas falsch ?

Bear with me, I'm a noob. Just installed Ubuntu and installed Mullvad following the terminal commands on their page. Mullvad crashes at every start-up, then apparently reloads and works as expected. Never had this error when I had it in Linux Mint. Any ideas why this is happening, should I be worried?

For some reason when i try to connect with multihop on my phone it doesn’t work when I’m connected to my home wifi.

It works on other wifi networks and it works with 5g so it obviously has something to do with my router.

I have an ubiquiti unifi express.

It works as it should on my pc.

I need help with possible solutions.

Today we announce the stable release of Mullvad Browser version 14.0

Mullvad Browser 14.0, based on Firefox ESR 128, incorporates a year's worth of changes from Firefox. 

As part of this process we've also completed our annual ESR transition audit, where we review Firefox's changelog for issues that may negatively affect the privacy and security of Mullvad Browser users and disable any problematic patches where necessary. The final reports from this audit are now available in tor-browser-spec repository on the Tor project Gitlab repository.

While we aim to release at the same time as Tor Browser, this time round it was not possible. This had no security implications, since Firefox ESR 115 is still supported by Mozilla.

Picture-in-Picture & Screenshots are back

As we mentioned earlier, each change to Firefox ESR needs to be audited. This time round we welcome back Firefox Screenshots and enable Picture-in-Picture.

The previous implementation of Firefox screenshot was making a browser more uniquely identifiable and so was disable. It is now again activated, thanks to the new privacy respecting implementation.

Security levels

Changing the security level modifies the browser fingerprint, and is not recommended. Consequently, the Security levels button has been removed from the toolbar. Security levels are still accessible through the browser settings.

I have to try a lot of times to find a proper speed server. Most are less 50mbps. This situation just started 2-3 days ago. Most servers were over 100mbps before. And most American servers are affected less, but most European's and Asian's are intolerably slow

I have the base mullvad dns set on my firefox as DoH domain. I had it there for at least a year. It used to work great until a few months ago, when it started glitching. Nowadays I keep having to switch out the DNS because firefox can't connect to Mullvad. I'll stop using it for the time being. Is this a known/widespread issue?

I'm looking for the most efficient and cheapest way to pay for Mullvad VPN with cryptocurrencies. Currently, paying with Bitcoin is complicated due to high (gas fees), and although I prefer to use Monero for its privacy, I can't seem to find an exchange that doesn't require KYC to acquire it.

Can this service be used to get around adult content barriers recently implemented in parts of the United States? I'm over 18, but I am not about to give Personally Identifiable Information to a sketchy site to access that kind of content. A LOT of these websites are checking via IP address.
