Hey guys, I wanted to use Mullvad browser to log in with Facebook and protect my privacy more but it seems this doesen´t work. I simply can´t log in. Is it normal?

Anyone been experiencing far more connectivity and speed issues lately?

Been using Mullvad for almost 2 years now and it has been solid, however the last 2 months I’d say have been a below average experience, extremely slow speeds, disconnections and so on. Can verify it isn’t my connection as at times with Mullvad in it refuses to even load a simple web page, turn Mullvad off and it’s fine (gigabit connection) connectivity and speed issues seem to be happening almost daily. Mullvad has been good as you can simply pay a flat rate for a month at a time but I’m considering dropping Mullvad for Proton at this rate

I mean dont get me wrong but what exactly is this useful for? All traffic to crucial sites such as banks/finances are protected and MITM not happening there. Socials networks carry their own security which I don't use. Google, although bad for tracking provides rigorous account security. Everything is MFA enabled.

Personal phones use encrypted messaging apps, with FDE. Only time I could see using it is when my network is public Wi-Fi but than too I don't use them.

There isss no point to protect again traffic originated by installed apps on phone as they already know the device info right down to the various carrier signatures to know who/where I am. Using a VPN here will raise more concerns for them if I am suddenly found n Belgium drinking the finest instead of attending Oktoberfest!

Streaming and all not a priority to me. Browser's are hardened enough and rest is protected my company's admins with its more fine tuned firewall and no need of a VPN there either or better yet just don't use it all if getting fired is totally cool.

I just wanted to see if it's any worth it but I don't and if anyone want one I am gonna toss it up for free.

My cousins are in a state where they have blocked reddit, telegram, discord, twitter and other messaging apps. Certain vpns with servers in the country are ok to use but here is what the official rules say

VPN providers and data centers are expected to log:

• Your full name, physical address, email address, and phone number
• The IP address you used to register for the VPN, together with a timestamp
• The IP addresses you use connect to VPN servers in the country, together with a timestamp for each connection
• A list of all IP addresses issued to each customer
• Your reason for using a VPN

Failure to comply can lead to one year in prison.

Some of these blocked platforms are either mobile only or they don't work if used through the tor network like reddit and twitter. All these websites and apps work well with orbot which uses tge tor network but orbot doesn't work in ios and drains too much battery in android and keeps on auto closing even if it has unrestricted access to battery.

Other option is to use an android emulator, it cannot be installed in tails for all the right reasons. Using it in debian with tor proxies always leak the real ip address somehow.

If mullvad, free account initially, is used in debian live usb or in windows then will mullvad have access to the specs of the pc in which it is being used?

What if mullvad is installed in the persistance storage of debian live usb and then an emulator is installed in it. Now will mullvad know in what is the hardware id, processor name, mac id, network card etc. for this pc?

Can mullvad, the free version, be trusted here so that there are no ip leaks or something?

Will mullvad know that the user is using twitter on an emulator and is running some other apps by name?

If this setup is used by students to bypass blocked apps or to post on twitter, reddit and the government thinks that this certain post is critical of them then they will press mullvad to share the user's details with them. Is the user doomed in that case? The government being government will press any and all charges to get the user as you all know.

I am in China (China blocks everything Google, including the app store (Play store)).

I installed the Mullvad app on my phone (and computer) prior to coming. I can connect and use Google and Youtube and Reddit.

Using Mullvad on the phone. Trying to download an app from google play store, just get an endless "waiting" spinning circle.

However, on my phone, when I try to install a new app, or update an old app, I simply get an endless "pending" message (for installations) or "waiting for wifi" message (for updates).

Also noticed an app that I originally used issue free in America can now detect that I am in China and demands that I register with my real name and phone number (in America all that was required was email address). Although I can connect to Youtube and other sites that would normally not be possible in China, it's still clear this app is getting my true location data.

How can I fix these Mullvad issues?

Just got Mullvad after a long time of not using it. Noticeable lag on some sites and slow web page load times..... is this location dependent or has Mullvad speed slipped over the years?

Now it's my turn, but at least it's with a twist this time. It's not just blocked, like it used to be, but actually unreachable. Looks pretty global, just pinging reddit.com fails with "Host not found", so I assume DNS level block. Right now for example with se-got-wg-003, possibly a few others. IPv4, I have none of the regular DNS blocks enabled.

First saw it a couple of days ago and initially thought the fault is with Reddit. Turns out it isn't, as far as I can tell it is the only site affected, which doesn't make it look like a mistake. Do note this is a Mullvad-owned server and although I'm not certain I suppose the others so far were too. Are they selectively blocking Reddit currently? Possibly due to some mass abuse in connection with specific IP ranges, and perhaps even a request by Reddit? Not sure I believe this, though what else could be the reason?

To be sure, this isn't a gripe in any way, I'm just curious, never seen before. At this time Reddit continues to be reachable normally via most of servers anyway. And whatever the reason, obviously Mullvad has any right to restrict their services in any way deemed necessary, no doubt there's something to the effect in the ToS. If they're even responsible that is, I'm not sure. Or perhaps it's just me, but I don't think so. Maybe someone likes to check.

Long story short, we had a soft coup 2 years ago, and the military regime and the puppet government has been consolidating its power.

After killing protestors and raiding hospitals and seizing patient data, effectively erasing those murders, the government has banned vpns

(in fairness, this process has been gradual and began with controlling several internet sites, but now has culminated with a blanket ban of vpns).

I was hoping Mullvad would be fine, as it is somewhat "obscure," (not like the big names that people advertise).

Anyway, Mullvad VPN is banned. Is there anything that can be done to circumvent the ban? Is there something I can do? A future update that may helP?

Or should I just give up?

Big supporter of Mullvad for its hardcore pro-privacy. Since the quantum-resistance upgrade, however, I'm having lots of trouble on Linux distros. I rarely use Mac OS and almost never use Windows OS so can't speak to stability on those OSes. Extremely laggy internet (high speed connections). Frequent disconnects even though other internet-connected devices are working fine. Pages load so slowly they'll often time-out or only partially load so they're unusable. Often getting error message that I'm offline and to try page again when I'm back online. Switching servers doesn't help. Restarting machines doesn't help. VPNs have always slowed down internet for me and brought yet another failure-vector to my internet set up (home, mobile...), but what's happening lately with Mullvad is like going back to VPNs a la 2010's--slow, glitchy, unreliable. Dreading the lost time to try to figure out what's going on. Specifically for anyone else who had these kinds of problems, have you found a quick, reliable fix?

Hello, I'm not great with this stuff so please bare with me.

Previously, when I traveled in Mexico I had no service because it costs a shit ton for me to upgrade to that option in foreign countries. I had informed by bank that I was traveling but they still kept rejecting my cards at any stores I went to. When I got back home to the US I got all the text messages my bank was sending me all at once saying they cancelled my purchases in a unknown location. The problem is, this time around I have an online business that I will NEED to make purchases for so I can't have my card declining all the time. If I set up a MySudo phone number and have the bank use that as my primary number + use a VPN for all my purchases, will that put me in the green? If something were to occur I should get the messages because I will be using Wifi and MySudo is messaging via wifi, so I can easily confirm with my bank that it is me making purchases. I will be in Mexico for almost two months.
