So I travel by train a lot and want to use the provided WiFi. When I connected before using Mullvad a window would pop up and I could accept the terms, but now it's not coming up, not automatically and not when I try to open it from the WiFi settings. It is working on Android, but not on MacOs. I have to disconnect the VPN first, then it works.

The trains are by DB. Maybe someone has experience with that problem.

I will soon travel to China and I would like to know if anyone have used it there. I heard sometimes VPNs dont work in China.

noticed if mullvad is active, twitch immediately shadowbans you until you stop using it; which servers get around this? i've seen a few threads from many years ago but those probably aren't effective anymore

It would be useful to have a "Favorites" category in the app where users could save their favorite servers. That way, they wouldn't have to search for them in a long list of countries and then in a list of servers. Thanks!

When I setup my connections manually, it seems like only some of the servers work. For example, I can connect to the NYC servers with no issue, but when I try to connect to Detroit or Chicago to use something closer, or even Swizerland or Sweden, I lose Internet access.

I'm on Arch Linux, using KDE's network-manager frontend to configure the connections, and I'm using the Wireguard config files I got from the Mullvad website. There's no difference in settings between the NYC configs and the others. When I'm connected, I can ping the servers with no issue, but my traffic never seems to get out to the wider internet.

I want to put in an exception for youtube in no script, but it always resets after closing the browser. I have the option to restore restrictions on restart disabled and have tried adding the url in the per site permissions tab as a trusted site multiple times

I use the mullvad proxy extension to set certain IPs and locations for different websites, and I would like to know if I activate DAITA on my mullvad desktop client it would work normally even with the extension.

Im attempting to set up a PLEX server, but i have a server then a NAS, i want all my files to be stored on the nas but i also want the PC to be connected to a VPN for qbittorrent. is there a way to access my nas while connected to the VPN?

I've been using Mullvad as a primary VPN for about 6 months. Proton kept having issues with slow/overcrowded servers, so I heard this was the next best thing. However, since the latest update (2025.4) it will only connect if I'm already connected to WiFi. If I'm out and about using phone data, it absolutely refuses to connect to any server. When I'm not actively trying to connect, it places my location in a state I'm not even close to. Any help would be appreciated.

Some commits that aims to add QUIC obfuscation to Mullvad was made to mullvad repository, what do we know about it? Did Mullvad(or a Mullvad dev) made statements about it? I know that Cloudflare also using it in their Cloudflare WARP, the MASQUE protocol of Cloudflare is what was making me connect WARP on my cellular, my provider blocks WireGuard.

My questions are:

• Is it hard to block that in restricted firewalls?
• Performance compared to Shadowsocks/UDP-over-TCP?
• Is it basically a solution similar to what Cloudflare did as I explained above?
• How much time it needs to be available in Mullvad apps for all platforms?

So the only money I have is cash in coins which Mullvad does not accept, but I had around €1,6 worth of Monero which as you know isn't enough for the minimum of 1 month that Mullvad offers which is €4,5 or €5 depending on how you pay. Anyway I decided to try sending all my Monero(€1,6) to see if it would work AND IT DID! It added 10 days to my account lol. Thank you u/MullvadNew for accepting us broke people:)

Hi, if I torrent with 4mb/s+, my internet drops on my desktop within an hour. Not mullvad, my internet (aka the wifi/ethernet icon). Have to restart my pc for it to come back. If I have it capped at 4mb/s, it takes longer, might be something to do with the amount being downloaded?

Tried to download the same torrent on my laptop and it worked without issue. So it should not be an ISP/router issue. Have reinstalled mullvad, no change, looked if there was some firewall on mullvad, nothing. Installed an old version of TP or something (saw it in the faq on mullvad) and it made it worse, instead of a clean download til the issue, I had random drops (mullvad drops) until the issue happened.

Does anyone know what the issue might be? Or should I contact mullvad support?

Also, if anyone knows where to get the newest version of the thing I downgraded, I would love that. Mullvad just gave me a direct download to the install, not the website. Do not like that I can just get random drops for nothing.

Edit in case it is important, laptop is on wifi, desktop is on Ethernet.

I've been using Mullvad for ages (close to a decade soon) and never had an issue until sometime last year when I noticed that Youtube and Reddit (primarily, but other big sites as well) blocked most Mullvad IPs unless you were logged in to your Youtube/Reddit/etc account. Which is an issue for me since I use NewPipe for Youtube.

You have to do a lot of IP switching before you can find one that works so I gone so far that I disable the VPN sometimes for NewPipe on my phone.

I figured that the big tech companies where just having a crack down on VPN IPs and that's just the world I was living in now.

But since I already pay for Proton mail I figured I'd check out if there is a difference with their VPN. And I had no issues viewing Youtube with NewPipe, even with Proton's free VPN where I must assume the IP is flagged as a VPN all over the place.

Anyone can figure out why that's the case? I don't know enough about networking, but for example, Proton blocks P2P unless you pick a specific server. With Mullvad it treats every server as a normal server. So there must be something different between Proton and Mullvad general setup?

Had no idea they had the funds to afford getting such ads out in premium locations in the SF Bay Area. Its a tell tale sign of profit maximization or at least that is the fear. And with that brings risk of the security of the service being compromised in some way like data logging etc.

Hi everyone. I am getting into home server and networking, and so a total noob when it comes to these things. But I am slowly learning.

I have a server running Ubuntu, and I am able to access it on other local machines with SSH. I have installed and activated Mullvad with wireguard, and it is running fine.

Three questions I hope you can help me with. I have tried to find solutions without luck.

1: How can I enable the possibility to access the server via SSH externally through the internett? Just like Amazon AWS or Google cloud? The server is completely empty by the way, so no files can be compromised. It is for learning and practise at this stage.

2: When activating Mullvad I could not use the name @raspberrypi.local, but had to use the IP-address. How come this is the case?

1. To be able to use SSH locally after activating Mullvad, I had to enter “mullvad lan set allow”. What is it with this commando that enables SSH locally again?

I use Mullvad VPN on a grapheneOS device and run the VPN pretty much constantly. I also use Newpipe as my YouTube client, which conflicts with the VPN and can't play videos. I have set up Mullvad split tunneling specifically for Newpipe.

Now, are there any benefits of setting Mullvad DNS in the device's network settings or does that conflict somehow with the VPN?

My thought is: If I set up DNS in the device network settings, will it only be used for non-VPN connections automatically? I have disabled DNS in the VPN itself, following the documentation on the Mullvad website.

Quote from Mullvad website: "This service is primarily meant to be used when you are disconnected from our VPN service, or on devices where it's not possible or desirable to connect to the VPN. When you are already connected to our VPN service the security benefits of using encrypted DNS is negligible and it will always be slower than using the DNS resolver on the VPN server that you are connected to."

So, in a university network with captive portal they seem to block Wireguard and Shadowsocks just fine, Wireguard can only operate under UDP over TCP obfuscation, which, as you know it's so slow.

For the first time today I wanted to give OpenVPN a try, it didn't work as Wireguard, but enabling OpenVPN bridges, and selecting a bridge server let me connect with a better and stable speed (with UDP over TCP, it's not stable at all, speedtest can even fail randomly in the middle, or any other process)

So, how do you retire OpenVPN while not providing a solution like this under Wireguard?

I often use mullvad for work in order to check for open ports on clients public firewalls. In the last few months I've noticed that my scans are no longer completing if I run a full scan (nmap -Pn -p- [ip address]). Mullvad will say it's connected, but I can reach anything until I reset the connection.

Anyone else having this issue?
