I know that Mullvad operates both owned and rented servers. I’m wondering if using their owned servers provides any additional security advantages. Would love to hear insights on this!

Since today, i cant connect to a mullvad Server on my windows 11 system.

I cant connect to any Server anymore.

Also it says "Internet sperren" and the Internet connection will only work again, if i disable Mullvad.

On android it works fine, any other with problems here?

I know that once a Mullvad account runs out of paid time, it remains inactive. But I’m wondering—what happens if no payment is made for a while after a month has passed? Does the account stay indefinitely, or does Mullvad eventually remove it?

If they do delete inactive accounts, how long does it take before that happens?

I couldn’t find a clear answer, so I’d appreciate any insights. Thanks!

Everytime I enable the vpn my wifi disconnects, and I am not too sure why. How do I access the vpn without my wifi disconnecting?

I have a web page that is not public-facing and I want to be able to resolve the DNS name through a static entry that I've added on my router. My router is configured, in order, with itself as the primary DNS server and then a couple secondary servers. This setup is successful but I've noticed it substantially slows down all other DNS queries, so I'd like to add a secondary server, such as 1.1.1.1, to my Mullvad settings. However, when I do this I'm no longer able to resolve my server's DNS name.

Is there a fix for this?

i currently use private relay as just a general vpn for privacy so i dont get tracked by advertisers and stuff. ive had some issues with safari however so im switching to other browsers and want a vpn. i liked private relay a lot because it was generally fast and was like a "tor" in the sense that i appeared like every other apple user. i cant reasonably use actual tor for regular activities and dont trust pretty much any vpn. is mullvad fast enough for just daily usage and good for my usecase?

I have an 8 year old Reddit account (alt acc) that has just been permanently suspended because I logged in from us-lax-wg-501.

Here’s how I know it was this server IP that Reddit instantly suspends, and not anything else.

  • My account is 8 years old. Have been using it without any problems, have never gotten any warnings from Reddit and no temporary suspensions. Reddit normally gives a warning, followed by a few temporary suspensions (3, 7, 30 days) if a user breaks platform guidelines before permanently suspending an account. Have never even gotten a subreddit ban on this account before.
  • I am a long term Reddit user and I know what is allowed and not allowed. And have read through the Reddit Rules, User Agreement, and Reddiquette thoroughly.
  • I have logged in from other servers without any problems. Multiple different servers.
  • I have verified email and 2FA set up, so Reddit knows the account is not hacked by logging in from a different server.
  • I only/always use the same device with the same timezone every time.
  • I only/always use the default Brave incognito whenever I log into this account. As incognito means there are no cookies stored, and Brave randomizes the browser fingerprint.

There are no warnings whatsoever, no messages by Reddit saying the account is suspended, no red bar at the top of the page, no emails. Just gone as verifiable by looking the profile up without logging in, I can comment but it doesn’t show publicly.

Reddit does not block the IP entirely like how they normally do; instead, it allows you to load Reddit as usual, but if you log in, your account is done for.

To really make sure that this is the case, I created a brand new account on the us-lax-wg-501 server, verify email, set up 2FA, and make 3 extremely vanilla comments the next day and gotten upvotes. Within 24 hours after making the comments, the account got permanently suspended. No rules were broken.

I can still log into other Reddit account using the same device and browser on incognito without any problems, as long as I do not use us-lax-wg-501. This confirms that Reddit has marked that particular IP as the problem while still allowing anyone to use Reddit on that IP.

Perhaps someone in the past has used this server to constantly conduct ban invasion.

Hope this helps others. I’m sure this won’t be the only one that is a problem, if you know of any other servers that are blacklisted by Reddit without outright getting blocked by their firewall, please share it below for the community.

Basically the title - but I'm insanely new at this. I have qbittorrent setup with the Arrs for Jellyfin, but I'm not sure of the best way to route it through Mullvad. I've seen suggestions to do it on its own, to do it through Gluetun (wtf is that lol) and other stuff. I'm tech savvy but not server savvy, any help is insanely appreciated.

Hello, I’m new to this stuff

I just bought the Mullvad vpn and downloaded the browser as well since it’s compatible. However people are saying to use Tor, not against Leta specifically but just overall.

I understand the Mullvad browser has been developed with Tor but I’m confused?

I have uBlock origin and everything is setup and working well.

This is just weird and I am thinking on how to really explain it. I have 2 different accounts. One account for my phone and another account for my desktop, but when I use my phone the vpn on my desktop drops. But if I use the same account on both devices, the vpn stays connected on both devices.

Phone is obviously using wifi, but my desktop is connected via Ethernet, I do not have wifi on my desktop (no radio signals on desktop).

What could be causing this ?

I'm wondering if it's possible to use the local network sharing option within mullvad to connect to a rdp outside of the lan. Basically I have mullvad on my phone and mullvad on my Windows desktop and I'm wondering if I can use that feature to connect via windows rdp? If so can someone explain how do I set this up? Thanks !

So I know some sites block VPNs , is there a way around it without leaking your own IP address? One of the betting sites I use blocks VPNs for sure.

Hi all,

I'm having this intermittent issue from time to time and for the life of me cannot sort it out. I'm using WireGuard tunnel on a Ubuntu 22.04 LTS machine with a custom script. This script refreshes the keys daily (via API): it deletes old interface key, then interface, then creates new interface with the new keys. So far so good, this setup has been working reliably for some years.

Starting roughly from the summer of last year I've started having the issue.

Sometimes (usually once per week, but it can happen multiple times per day) tunnel hangs. Like, there's no packets flowing, anything, pings just timeout (no destination unreachable stuff, just black hole). Restarting the same tunnel with wg-quick doesn't help as well, I have to refresh the keys via script again and then it works. Like a key gets banned for some reason? I'm also not visiting anything which can put me on the list, and also if this was the case I would expect Mullvad to block my account, not a single key.

It's certainly not a key limitation, because it's a dedicated account and I can see that script removes a key which was in use, so there's no overflow (when I log in to the account it always has 1/5 keys).

Have anyone also experience it?

Hey everyone,

I’m definitely not as tech-savvy as most people here, so I’d really appreciate simple explanations.

I just got Mullvad VPN on my Mac (running macOS 12.5), but after downloading it, I can’t find it anywhere. I think I need to install it a different way because of my macOS version, but everything I’ve read is really confusing.

Could someone give me a super simple, step-by-step guide on how to install it?

Thanks so much!

This is a crucial feature that many other Android TV VPN's have but the last time I checked it was missing from Mullvad.

Hello, sorry I tried searching on this topic.

I have used VPNs before that allowed me to directly connect to the VPN using macOS network settings. All you have to do is open Network Settings and input the server info and your login details and the native OS connects to the server for you.

This is my preferred method but I've found that some VPN services don't allow me to do it, like Proton. Perhaps there is a good reason not to use this that I don't know about. But at the moment my macOS version is too old to use the Mullvad app. I can look into using the alternatives like OpenVPN but I wanted to check on this option first. Does anyone have any info on this? I'd appreciate the help.

Hey, I just started using Mullvad VPN, and I’m running into some issues. Whenever I connect to a different country, my Discord disconnects like I have no internet, and it just keeps showing that refresh symbol. Also, when I search for something on Google, the results show up fine, but when I click on a link, Cloudflare blocks me. Not sure what’s going on—anyone know how to fix this?

when i use doh on mac via the .mobileconfig file, the anycast routing goes across a major ocean instead of just, going the shorter and faster route over land. i know it's faster because i tested the dns on both servers and anycast was picking a transcontinental route that was slower.

I've been using Mullvad for going on 4 years now, but I've also used Proton VPN. I recently switched back to Proton a few months ago after realizing that I had credits that I completely forgot about.

One thing that I've noticed is that Proton seems to struggle with maintaining a consistent connection while I am away from home and have it activated (over public Wi-Fi networks). I've seen it constantly try to reconnect. It's rare for me to experience that problem while using Mullvad.

I have also noticed that streaming videos can be a pain for me when using Proton. Whether at home, and streaming with Google TV boxes, or tablets, videos will stop quite a bit to buffer. And that's while trying to stream 720p. Again, I don't have this issue will Mullvad. My Internet is pretty fast, especially when I have VPN services turned off.

Before (2-3 months ago when I used it) the connection was almost instantly (1-2 seconds), but now, I have to wait for about 10-15 seconds, the internet cuts off in the middle, and then connects. I updated it to the latest version. Is it organic and how it should be or its on my PC?

How can I tunnel with SSH and WireGuard using Mullvad VPN because in the app you can do this with OpenVPN but there is no mention of WireGuard. How can I tunnel with SSH to a WireGuard server.
