They’re probably ones who believe Israel can be saved. That if only the ‘bad apples’ can be removed, the rest is fine.

The root cause is Zionism. The root cause is Ashkenazi settler colonialism in Palestine.

Decolonization and a unitary, secular republic in all Palestine is the only just solution.

Everything else is whitewashing this ongoing holocaust.

The issue isn’t just the amount of money involved. It’s who ultimately benefits.

The elephant in the room is the proposed handout to the company that owns the Spurs. It’s one thing to have a city-owned and operated venue (unionized, well paying civil servant jobs), where concessions, ancillary fees and partial ticket proceeds all go back to the city. It’s another thing entirely to write a blank check based on the threat of leaving. That’s emotional blackmail for the fans, and extortion for the rest.

This is a link to a Last Week Tonight episode about publicly funded stadiums from nine years ago. https://youtu.be/xcwJt4bcnXs

If a new stadium has to be built, then let it be owned and operated entirely by the City of San Antonio. The Spurs can throw another tantrum like a petulant child. This city doesn’t belong to them.
