There are essentially zero other decent jobs in the area. Fast food, dollar general, mom and pop pharmacies. Its sad to see so many people that are otherwise decent human beings taking the job because they need to eat.

Yeah, based on the first one being a generic anti-war statement, I made an assumption, but I can see how you could be correct. I think that's giving them a bit too much credit, but I see your point.
I agree to an extent that it is foolish, or maybe naive to think that the rural working class will easily ally with the left because of guns or whatever, but its at least as ridiculous as leaning the other way with the "country bumpkin" schtick.
