How do we know this? Alex Jones should be homeless, penniless, and naked, and mostly SILENT. He shouldn't own anything, or have a penny to his name. If we know this about him, then he has a microphone. Confiscate it, sell it on eBay, and give the money to his victims, to whom he owes over a billion dollars.

If Alex Jones has an opinion, it's because he has a way to get his message out. Confiscate any way for him to broadcast his message.

Alex Jones is liked by people in Trump's clique, so he will never face any consequence. He almost faced one, almost, but then America decided that ghouls like him should hold all the power.

Distractions. Diversions... The concentration camps got wiped off the news cycle. The protests got wiped off the news cycle.

Every cycle they have a few of their guys play the other side. Like a good cop bad cop routine. Works every time.

[–] atzanteol@sh.itjust.works 27 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I love how liberals think that Trump's antics are a 57d chess game to hide his brilliant "master plan".

Ffs, it's not a distraction, it's the thing.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 7 points 2 days ago

There are just so many fucking things that everything is simultaneously a distraction, and the thing being distracted from

A page from Putin's playbook

Protesting tomorrow. Hopefully it will be bigger than the last.🤞

It wasn't....

Hadn't heard about this one, and had to look it up. So, for others in the same boat...

His fanbase just LOVES the hole idea of punishing immigrants, and that includes putting them in camps.

I think you're confusing your own reaction and that of the bubble you live in (who call it "concentration camps", which curiously, was not used for Guantanamo Bay back when the President was a Democrat though there too it made sense) with those of the Trump fanbase who elected him mainly because he repeatedly said he was going to "stop" immigrants.

The relentless implying that "Trump is a Pedo" that's happenning with this Administration's reaction to demands for release of the Epstein Files, when his very support base was been repeatedly made to rage against Democrats with "pedo stories" in the Past, to distract them from something which they actually like and want, doesn't sound at all like a good strategy.

This seems to me like something which is far more logically explained by Incompetence than by Malice.

Nobody cared about the kids in cages during Trump's last term and nobody's ever cared about people spending their weekends waving signs around (except when they can use them as an excuse to triple-down on authoritarianism.) People actually care about this. It's stupid, sure, but we're dealing with Americans here.

[–] oxjox@lemmy.ml 152 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I mean, he doesn't flip-flop hardly ever or change policies in decades.

Jones said this without any sense of irony.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 41 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I mean, can you even point to an example of flip-flopping?

I’m kidding, we all know. We are a circus.

[–] sp3ctr4l@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 2 days ago

Not sure if this counts as your definition of 'flip flopping' but uh... it counts in my book.

Nothing Alex says ever means something. He'll change his mind tomorrow if it's profitable. His opinion is worth less than nothing.

[–] Balerion@piefed.blahaj.zone 14 points 2 days ago

Yup. He's "disavowed" Trump before, but he always goes crawling back.

It's the small things...

I'm sorry, but this is Rawstory writing what people wanna hear for clickbait. Here's their clip:

https://rumble.com/v6w9hfk-thats-a-cult-alex-jones-disavows-trump-after-he-tells-fans-to-drop-epstein.html

That is not repudiation. It's wobbling on a single tweet, even with their selective cut.

Honestly I wish this source was softbanned from /c/news. Like it is from Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Reliable_sources/Perennial_sources#The_Raw_Story

[–] usernamesAreTricky@lemmy.ml 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Look through his posts. He posted cuts close to that. He's been criticizing more than just this tweet

https://xcancel.com/realalexjones

[–] brucethemoose@lemmy.world 16 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

The pinned post is literally:

Wednesday LIVE: Desperate Deep State/MSM Pushes “Epstein Hoax” & “MAGA Divorce” In Attempt To Fracture & Bring Down The Trump Administration! Tune In NOW For Latest Developments As Alex Jones Covers This & Other Key Issues!

Scrolling down, I see clips of him being… combatively apologist. The tone being “Trump is an idiot for doing this, instead of that.”

Also, thank the heavens xcancel is still running from whatever black magic backend they’ve figure out.

[–] usernamesAreTricky@lemmy.ml 8 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

He's hedging and still trying to support some/most of the Trump line, but he isn't doing the usual 100% blind support of Trump

[–] brucethemoose@lemmy.world 6 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

Alex Jones predates Trump and has always been combative, even about Trump policy, from what I've seen. He criticized some of Trump's earlier moves, like with Ukraine.

This is all in character for him, though I admit that's just my surface impression.

But objectively, his pinned tweet outright says "MAGA Divorce is a false liberal meme." That is not the message of someone "disavowing" Trump.

You can try to read between the lines, but IMO you should take what he says at face value.

[–] Wilco@lemmy.zip 14 points 2 days ago

Is it now? Truly?

[–] skozzii@lemmy.ca 35 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (2 children)

I can't wait for these MAGA idiots to see the glaring similarities to every other scandal Trump has been involved in and they have fully supported. I wonder if there is enough brain matter to connect the dots.

"It's just like the Russia hoax, and the election hoax, and the impeachment hoax, and the ..."

[–] ProfessorProteus@lemmy.world 15 points 2 days ago (1 children)

As hopeful as I feel right now, I still wouldn't bet on that. I'm just grateful that this much seems to be happening, for now, until another million-migrant army magically appears, heading toward the southern border as if it was conjured out of thin air.

[–] MrMcGasion@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

Honestly the minute they realize "liberals" are happy some of them are waking up, they'll probably get back in line. Most of them joined the cult to "own the libs" and that's the only thing they actually care about.

[–] fluxion@lemmy.world 7 points 2 days ago

I hope you're patient

[–] pjwestin@lemmy.world 25 points 2 days ago (2 children)

This is what I've been trying to explain to people for a few days now. Grifters like Charlie Kirk or Dinesh D'Souza will just go along with whatever Trump says on Epstien. They never believed in or cared about QAnon and the conspiracy bullshit. They opportunistically picked it up when it was useful, they'll drop it now that it's inconvenient, and a big chunk or MAGA will listen to them.

But guys like Alex Jones, who, if he isn't actually a die-hard true-believer, at least knows that his audience is entirely die-hard true-believers, will not do that. They have staked everything on a made up story about satanic pedophiles that started with Comet Ping-Pong and ended with Jeffery Epstien, and they can't just drop it. That is another large chunk or MAGA, and it will go to war with anyone, even Trump, to keep their delusion going.

[–] Doom@ttrpg.network 16 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yep. I have trumpers in my life and it is safer to say they're more Jones/Rogan fan boys. This is two delusions and bullshit piling up against each other.

The most you'll get is them trying to loop Biden and Bill Gates into the pedostuff too so they don't feel they've totally lost their way

[–] pjwestin@lemmy.world 9 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, a lot of people keep telling me, "Oh, the MAGA cult will just believe whatever he tells them," and sure, some of them will, but others only go along with it because they're convinced Trump is about to expose the, "deep-state cabal." They have a fictional Trump in their head that they will protect at all costs, even from real-world Trump. (...and then they'll probably claim that real-world Trump is a cloned body double and the real Trump is recuperating in a medbed and planning his triumphant return or something).

[–] Aceticon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

It does make a lot of sense that what they're wedded to are the cult beliefs, rather than a specific cult preacher.

“Their new SCAM is what we will forever call the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax, and my PAST supporters have bought into this ‘bullshit,’ hook, line, and sinker,” Trump wrote in a missive on Truth Social. “They haven’t learned their lesson, and probably never will, even after being conned by the Lunatic Left for 8 long years."

“I have had more success in 6 months than perhaps any President in our Country’s history, and all these people want to talk about, with strong prodding by the Fake News and the success starved Dems, is the Jeffrey Epstein Hoax,” he wrote. “Let these weaklings continue forward and do the Democrats work, don’t even think about talking of our incredible and unprecedented success, because I don’t want their support anymore!”

"But now Trump, if this continues down this line, if he starts saying I'll excommunicate people, well, you're not allowed, unless it's a cult, to say to people, you either agree with everything I do and don't question things, or you're not in our club, I don't want you, well, that kind of sounds like a thoroughbred cult to me."

"But when somebody starts saying, don't question things, or you can't be in our club, yeah, that's a cult," he added. "So this isn't a divorce because I was never married to Trump. And this is not an excommunication because I was never in the church of Trump."

"I am just like, whoa, okay. That's not very Trumpian. I mean, he doesn't flip-flop hardly ever or change policies in decades."

Poe's Law. It's very hard for my brain to accept that this isn't sarcasm, Joe Rogan is indeed this stupid.

[–] FenderStratocaster@lemmy.world 10 points 2 days ago

Trump is now the one turning the frogs gay?

[–] crusa187@lemmy.ml 7 points 2 days ago

Wasn’t Alex saying just the other day this is 4D chess to blackmail those on the list?

It may not have been Trump’s intent (let’s face it, it wasn’t, the idiot never has a plan and just reacts emotionally to everything), but it is very revealing to see who is coming out this week defending the ludicrous notion that the list is fake and there are no perps. If someone rich is making that claim, you can bet your ass they’ve visited Epstein island.

[–] sad_detective_man@leminal.space 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

well if Teemu Alistair Crowley says so then I guess it's official

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 2 days ago

Alistair Crowley was a fucking loser, but this is still insulting to him

[–] cley_faye@lemmy.world 5 points 2 days ago

A very lucrative cult, he would know all about it.

[–] riskable@programming.dev 6 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Who TF cares what Alex Jones thinks? You're more likely to get an interesting take from a random stranger. In fact, do that instead of continuing to give attention to dried up former celebrities where you can be absolutely certain they don't deserve it.

[–] COASTER1921@lemmy.ml 5 points 2 days ago

Nobody on Lemmy cares but a portion of Trump's base absolutely does. That's why this is somewhat reassuring to see, as although the Republicans are great at ignoring Democrat's demands, they can't completely ignore their own party's.
