I'VE BEEN SAYING THIS TO MY MAGA FAMILY MEMBERS FOREVER.
The punishment for hiring undocumented workers and paying them under the table is a gentle pat on the wrist. If you absolutely cared about, "they're stealing our jobs!" then you would be mad at the people giving your jobs away.
If you truly weren't cruel, then why not focus on stopping the abuse and going after the leeches instead of even further punishing those that just want to work for a good life?
I think that's why they've largely pivoted from "they're stealing our jobs!" to "they've come here to live off welfare and vote for Democrats!"
It would also be the most effective way to stem illegal immigration. If illegal immigrants couldn't find jobs there would be a lot less reason to come here.
Not to mention it's going right to the source. If you find one illegal employer, it would be equivelant to finding 10-100s of illegal immigrants.

I've asked MAGoos hundreds of times why it isn't cheaper and faster to arrest the people who hire illegals. Some of the mental gymnastics are quite amusing.

I often just reply, "Who is hiring the illegals?"
And I usually get silence.
It's not about illegal immigration. It's about racism.
They’re always so “pay what the market will bear” and “you buying that product enables them” and whatever else whenever someone asks for a living wage or criticizes capitalism while owning an iPhone. They do understand how these things work and they choose to be hateful.
It’s either common sense when the real answer is complicated but shows they’re wrong or a complicated system when the obvious answer doesn’t agree with them.
