/c/TenFoward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

This whole thread is like, pure gold-pressed latinum. If Lemmy GPL was a thing, I'd GPL everyone in this thread. That just sounds wrong. I'd latinum everyone in this thread...yeah, that's better. I guess

The cost of one warp core, obviously. But don't worry, I know a guy who can hook you up with a new-looking Starfleet-spec warp core for a very reasonable price. Why, if you tell him I sent you he might even give you a discount. What do you say, captain?

If you accept the offer, go to page 285. Otherwise close the book; you're done.

puts my finger on the page and starts checking each option to see if I like the outcome

Also, nice.

Also, blaze it.

By coincidence, CYOA #39 was Supercomputer by Edward Packard, published in 1984, which was the last CYOA that I ever got. Guess I was aging out of them by then. Fond memories of the early series, though.

It was indeed Supercomputer that I got the image from.

I remember reading this paperback years ago. I found it on the floor of a public bathroom at some highway gas station.

Never finished it though because half the book was missing.

½ * Infinity != infinity?

[–] Keeponstalin@lemmy.world 7 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

Depends on which infinities. For example, the amount of even numbers and the amount of even+odd numbers are both infinity (aleph null). so the set of all even numbers is the same size as the set of all even and odd numbers. However the set of all numbers between 0 and 1 is infinitely larger than either of those (aleph one).

And then there are those giant insects that never forget: the aleph ants.

I would have had to spend hours to achieve not quite the same results, so you did good.

The parallel Enterprise fires a torpedo at Worf's shuttle, causing damage.

If you return fire, defending Worf until he can cross the rift, turn to page 85.

If you recognize the superiority of parallel Riker's magnificent beard, turn to page 110.

It helps that you can find out things like which font they used for Choose Your Own Adventure novels these days thanks to the Internet.

If you didn't know, the Fighting Fantasy books are all on Steam. I recently played through all the more rare books I never got to play through.

I had a couple of these when I was younger.

My favorite was one that had Those Old Scientists and some of the paths involved tribbles.
