There was a
thread about this: here the consensus seems to be that the genre was mostly dead for 10-20 years and is making a comeback, but they arent called ""Activity" Tycoon" anymore. Also there's a lot of mobile games that carried on with the Tycoon name and made a whole lot of shovelware, apparentely.
It IS reddit, but it's a niche hobby sub so the info might be valid
