Is that so? Why would anyone with an instance from another country give a shit about UK law? Honest question, I have no clue about these kind of laws.

They'll get blocked in the UK. Which, to be honest for a non profit fediverse instance isn't going to be a bad thing as they'll loose traffic alongside any donations. Expect UK based instances to start doing something for their users. But there's lots of other verification options they could use.

But then UK instances won't be able to federate with non-UK instances, right? Can this even be enforced?

The answer is if they don't theyre supposed to be blocked in the UK. Which... Who cares. Everyone on here can use a vpn
