"The Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions (LO), the country’s largest labor federation, has voted in favor of a comprehensive boycott of #Israel, including a ban on trade and investment with #Israeli companies.

The decision was passed with an overwhelming 88 percent majority during LO’s national congress, held in the #Norwegian capital, Oslo, from May 8 to 9, the official #Palestinian news agency WAFA reported."

I think it's because the Israeli government blatantly said last week it'll take permanent control of parts of Gaza and push all Gaza Palestinians southward.

That hits all the points in the definition of genocide. (Intent, forcing a populous to move,...)

In contrast with the last 18 months, there is no more doubt if it's a campaign against Hamas/freeing the prisoners or actual genocide, they have now delivered proof.

It's crazy how much more the Western world cares about words than actions. The only reason they start doing something is because Israel is loudly announcing how evil they are every single day.

Agreed. This drives me absolutely insane where, here in the US, so many of our leaders who have actual power love taking credit for speeches and then doing absolutely nothing positive in a practical sense.

Germany is the ultimate example. They will directly take action against anything pro-Palestinian. A group waves a Palestinian flag and the Gestapo mashes in the skulls of all their members, brands them a terrorist group and tries to deport them.

But when it comes to the AfD which is actively doing Nazi salutes suddenly it's all about debating free speech and 'democracy'. And banning groups is suddenly scary and undemocratic.

The double standards and hypocrisy are getting beyond comical.

Identical in the US, except the Nazi Party of America already won and is currently in power.

and the Gestapo mashes in

You're trivialising Nazi rule.

And that's precisely why noone in Germany is listening to you. I can only surmise that you're a Hasbara agent trying to paint the Palestinian cause in a bad light.

German police are disappearing and torturing protestors? Nay, they're not just doing all that Gestapo shit, they're even worse? Is that what you're trying to say? [citation needed], then.

Watch your comparisons if you want to be taken seriously.

OH yeah, his sternly worded letters. Just so impactful.

Actions may have other intentions behind them. Written statement are easier to prove in a court of law.

The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Gallant nearly 6 months ago. They must have thought their actions were pretty clear evidence of their crimes.

Norway may have different evidence requirements.

Indeed, they specifically called it genocide when it was announced. And they voted against their leadership who only wanted one of those "culture and academic" boycotts(a small part of the leadership also wanted to call it "unimaginable suffering" instead of genocide). But the people voted 240 in favor and 69 against an economic boycott. They're also backing up the UN's demand of the occupation ending by September. At which point they want Norway to initiate an international boycott if it has not happened.

They have some ties to the current major political party, the Labour Party, who's leader said he "disagreed".

For reference, this an "umbrella organization" with two dozen smaller unions totaling over a million people, out of Norways 5.5m total population. They represent around 35% of working adults, meaning that if they go into strike, the country shuts down.

EDIT: It should be mentioned that this was at a yearly conference, which is also why it didn't happened sooner.

Oh, I agree, but knowing and proving are different ballparks, especially in an international court.

The discussions I had on reddit in 2023 about it was proof of intent, which is needed for acts to be labelled genocide. An official press statement stating that intent is proof. The ICC case has basically just been made.

It's no longer about a suspected landgrab, and if it wasn't for 18 months of Hasbara PR wearing us down, more countries would feel forced to act, as governments should now no longer be allowed to appeal to "benefit of doubt".

I just wanted to point that out that the press communication we all saw coming, is (in regards to calling them a genocidal state) not just a smoking gun, but a video of them pulling the trigger.

When the first Trump golf course goes in, we will know for sure!

What’s really interesting is how Apple Maps doesn’t have updated satellite images of Gaza, yet google maps shows a ton of damage.

It’s pretty nuts to see the before and after like that.
